Letter to Parents and Future Students

Dear Parents and Future Students,

My name is Steve. I was born in America, and did all my schooling in America before moving to Asia to pursue my language study and language teaching career. I have many years of experience in language study and English language instruction designed specifically to help ESL students reach their English language goals in the most effective way.

I provide an integrated approach using creative teaching methods, new technology, and years of experience enabling me to help each of my students master fundamental textbook reading skills, knowledge of the three important types of vocabulary, and I offer proven memorization techniques that help students perform well in their science classes at junior high school and high school levels.

My classes provide an incremental approach which is designed to help students learn and use academic vocabulary as well as science terminology. I have structured my teaching methods to provide immediate benefits to Chinese ESL students which helps students improve textbook reading skills, basic fundamental understanding of science concepts, and one of the best pathways to do well on the SAT, IELTS, and TOEFL tests.

I have many years of experience teaching Chinese students, both in-classroom and online. I am fluent in Chinese, and this helps me to be a more effective teacher for Chinese students in many important ways.

I focus on helping students make steady improvement in these key areas:
        a.	Academic Vocabulary (Tier 2 Vocabulary)
        b.	Science Terminology (Tier 3 Vocabulary)
        c.	Textbook Reading Comprehension (Science Textbooks, Primarily)
        d.	Grammar Practice (I use a practical approach providing comprehensive practice.)
        e.	Writing Skills (Academic Writing)

Because I now teach online, I limit my classes to one or two students in each online class. For most students, I teach 90-minute classes, two or three times per week.

Thank you for reading my letter to you.

I hope that you will contact me so that we can discuss the ways I can help your child improve academic performance though improvement of textbook reading skills, academic vocabulary knowledge, and writing skills.

Sincerely,

Steve Rich
